Field umpire Matt Stevic was awarded with his 6th All-Australian award, his 5th in five years.  Matt who umpired in his 6th grand final (the last 5 in a row also) was a “clear winner”, according to AFL Umpire’s coach Hayden Kennedy.

The award was announced at the grand final night cocktail party in front of over 200 umpires, partners and guests who had come from all parts of the globe to celebrate the AFL grand final and the 2018 season.

Boundary umpire, Nathan Doig was awarded the All-Australian boundary umpire for 2018. Nathan previously won the award in 2013. “It was a fitting reward in recognition of Nathan’s commitment and perseverance during the year.” said his coach Simon Leigh.

The award for the All-Australian goal umpire could not be split this year.  “It is clearly the association’s view that we are here to recognise and reward excellence and not move to a count-back system to a fourth decimal point,” said CEO Peter Howe when announcing joint winners, Steven Piperno and Stephen Williams.

Congratulations to each recipient on your award!!!
