The Northern Football Netball League is pleased to announce the appointment of former AFL field umpire Gary Fila as Head of Umpiring.

As someone who has a passion for running, umpiring seemed like the right fit for David.

Throughout my week with the AFLUA, I learnt that there’s a huge amount of work that happens behind the scenes to enable day to day tasks to take place.

From a young seventeen-year-old to finding himself on the 2020 AFL Umpires List, Sam Stagg has come in leaps and bounds to ensure his spot for the 2020 season. 

Former VFL Umpire, Joe Bell passed away on November 15 2019 aged 85.  While Joe wasn’t a VFLUA life member,  he was a life member of the VFL Reserve Grade Umpires Association and the Ballarat Football Umpires Association.

Chris Appleton has been appointed as the AFL Goal Umpire Coach and will commence in the role on 1 December 2019.

A NORTHERN suburbs teenager who founded a football umpire academy when she was 14 has been named WA’s young person of the year.

Ron Bailey, has managed our X umpires group for the past 14 years and still has a smile on his face! At our last X-umpires luncheon at Caulfield Ron was presented with his Life Time Achievement Award by CEO, Peter Howe on behalf of the association, and he was really smiling.
