The AFLUA is sad to acknowledge the passing of life member and 1968 VFL Grand Final goal umpire Dan Parsons.
Dan began umpiring on the boundary in the CYMS competition in 1944. He joined the VFL Second Eighteend in 1948 and ran the boundary until 1955 when he transferred to the goals.
In 1958 he was promoted to the VFL senior list where he umpired 166 VFL matches between 1958 and 1968. His last premiership match was the 1968 VFL Grand Final.
An AFLUA life member in 1968 his service as Assistant Sectretary 1966-68 was recognised with a Lifetime Achievment Award (Special) in 1969.
The Funeral Mass of Mr Daniel James Parsons will be offered at St Roch’s Church, 200 Burke Road, Glen Iris on TUESDAY (Dec. 22, 2015) at 10.30 a. m. The Funeral will leave at the conclusion of Mass for Committal Prayers at the Wilson Chapel, Springvale Botanical Cemetery, Princes Highway, Springvale.
