Peter Kelly appointed to the new marketing and communication role

Dec 18, 2015

Life Member, Peter Kelly has been appointed to the newly created role of Marketing and Communications Coordinator.

Peter’s umpiring background is extensive.  He was a goal umpire on the VFL/AFL list between 1988 and 1995.  He umpired in 36 senior AFL matches.  In his time on the list he was extremely active on the executive.  In 1989 Peter was on the social committee and took over the reigns as social secretary in 1992, a position he held until a restructure of the association in 1995 which saw the position made redundant.

In 1993 Peter becomes social secretary of the VFUA.  He adds the role of treasurer in 1994 and 1995 until he becomes the Executive Officer of the VFUA in 1996, a role that he still holds today.

Affectionately known as “PK,” Peter brings not only a strong umpiring culture to the role but a managerial one as well.  He was employed in the HR field at a senior management level for over 30 years until his retirement in 2014.

In the initial stages, Peter’s role is to build a social media platform for the AFLUA so we can connect more strategically with our members.  You will see him at our functions and in the training rooms.  He will then build a marketing strategy for us to make sure our members are getting the full benefit of being a member.

Peter’s role will be a part time one.  He will commence his duties on January 18 2016.
