The remaining field umpire rookies across Australia are also entering the pointy end of their seasons. In WA, Justin Orr is sitting as the emergency umpire in the WAFL preliminary final, while second rookie, Scott McPhee is umpiring with Beau Wardman and scholarship winner Rob McCann.
In Victoria, Shaun Gleeson and Andrew Talbot are running in the first preliminary final on Saturday while ex-AFL umpire, Brett Ritchie is umpiring in the second preliminary final on Sunday.
In Tasmania, on preliminary final weekend, Ben Lehner is still in contention for higher honours.
Over in SA, finals commence this weekend with both Leigh Haussen and Curtis Deboy expected to feature prominently in selections.
