Former Cadet Squad field umpire and long time friend and supporter of the AFLUA, Colin Newcombe has passed away after an eight month battle with cancer.

Col began umpiring in 1984 in the Colac and District FL. He had a stint with the Southern Football League and worked in the VAFA as an observer. Col continued his association with the CDFL until recently, going home to umpire games on an irregular basis to simply help out.

Colin was dubbed “Col from Colac” by Marty Carland and Steve Keating during his time on the AFL Cadet Squad and more recently from Ascot Vale Sports Trophies.

Our thoughts are with his wife and family.
