SIMON MEREDITH REACHES 450th AFL MILESTONE

May 5, 2023

Congratulations to field umpire Simon Meredith (AFLUA Heritage No. 398), who will be officiating in his 450th career AFL match in Round 8.

The veteran whistleblower takes the reins of the Carlton v Brisbane match at Docklands (Marvel) Stadium on Friday (5 May 2023) for this landmark match.

Simon commenced his umpiring career with the SMJFL and VAFA in 1989, and made his AFL debut in 2004. He has seven AFL Grand Finals to his credit.

His consistency at the elite level of AFL umpiring was further recognised when he won the All-Australian blazer in 2022, which was his maiden All-Australian award.

Simon has also shared his umpiring experience in the AFLW competition, presiding in six AFLW matches so far.

He was made a Life Member of the AFLUA in 2013.

Well done, Simon, on reaching another significant umpiring milestone. We wish you all the best for the season ahead.
