Jordyn Pearson joins AFLW Competition Committee

May 22, 2025

AFL rookie listed field umpire Jordyn Pearson has been appointed to the AFLW Competition Committee.

The committee’s charter is to ensure the overall progression of the AFLW. To ensure the improvement and prosperity of the AFLW competition, stakeholders from across the AFLW landscape meet to make recommendations.

Chaired by AFL Commissioner Simone Wilkie AO, the committee met for the first time on May 7 to conduct a review of Season 9, and discuss the AFLW’s growth strategies and talent pathways.

Laura Kane, the AFL’s Executive General Manager of Football welcomed the eight new members to the 2025 committee.

“All of the new committee members bring a wealth of experience from across the industry and we look forward to working with them as we continue to shape and drive the growth of AFLW both now and into the future.”

Other notable committee members include: Emma Moore (General Manager AFLW), David Barham (Essendon President), Erin Phillips (AFL Football Performance Lead), Tom Harley (Sydney Swans CEO) among others. Pearson is the only umpire to be appointed to the committee.

A successful AFLW and VFL umpire, Pearson was appointed to the newly created AFL rookie umpire list at the start of 2025. This comes after several impressive years in the AFLW. From umpiring the 2022 (Season 6) Grand Final, to winning the AFLW Umpiring Rising Star award in 2024, Pearson forged a reputation as one of the best up-and-coming female umpires.

Now on the rookie list, the dream of performing on the AFL stage has never been closer.

Congratulations Jordyn and well done on contributing to the development and progression on the AFLW on so many levels.
