The AFL today announced its 2017 finals panel.  At a glance field umpire Curtis Deboy, boundary umpires, Tim Morrison and Jason Moore and goal umpires Matthew Dervan and Michael Craig will make their AFL finals debuts.

Andrew Stephens, Nathan Williamson, Mark Ensbey and Michael Palm get their first look at finals sitting as emergency umpires.  Nathan Williamson makes the top sixteen field umpires in his first year on the list which is an outstanding effort.

The lists are chock full of experience with nine of the 12 field umpires having umpired a grand final, six of the 16 boundary umpires and three of the eight goal umpires having done the same.

Luke Walker comes back into the finals panel after missing last season.  He now draws level with the retired games record holder for finals for a goal umpire, David Dixon on 34.

Out of the finals race from 2016 include Scott Jeffery, Chris Kamolins, Luke Farmer, Chris Bull, Michael Saunders and Chelsea Roffey .  Many have been beset by injury during the season.
