The AFLUA joins the WANFLUA in congratulating goal umpire Brett Rogers who umpired the West Coast v St Kilda match to become the WANFLUA’s games record holder as a goal umpire
Brett overtook coach and mentor David Shawcross who held the previous record of 353 WAFL / AFL games.
Brett’s umpiring career began with the Swan Districts Junior Umpiring Association in 1998. He joined the WAFL list in 2003 where he umpired 122 WAFL matches including three consecutive WAFL grand finals in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Brett is also a two-time Carter Medallist, winning the goal umpire of the year award in 2008 and 2009,
Brett joined the AFL List in 2009 and made his AFL debut in round 9 of 2009 with the West Coast v Collingwood match. He has now been on the AFL List in Western Australia for 17 years and has umpired 232 matches including 5 finals.
Brett’s services to umpiring make him a life member of both the WANFLUA and AFLUA.
Brett is incredibly generous with his time at training, always taking the time to help grow the next generation of young goal umpires.
Brett joins Brett Rosebury and Nathan Doig as games record holders in each respective discipline.
