The AFL Field Umpires recently held their squad dinner at Romeo’s in Toorak.

Whilst the night was an opportunity for the group to get together in a relaxed environment, it also gave the AFLUA the opportunity to make a number of presentations for awards and life memberships.

The AFLUA presented Grand Final frames to our 2022 AFL Grand Final field umpires Matt Stevic, Brendan Hosking and Simon Meredith.

Life membership presentations were made to Nick Foot, Leigh Fisher, Andy Stephens and Mark Fraser, and a retirement caricature was presented to life member David Harris.

Milestones to date were also acknowledged for those in attendance: 1st AFL match – Martin Rodger, Matthew Young and Andrew Adair; 50 AFL matches – Jamie Broadbent; 100 AFL matches – Brent Wallace; 200 AFL matches – Leigh Fisher (who became the first person to play football and umpire 200 VFL/AFL matches).
