Four AFL umpires will make their grand final debut in the 2013 AFL Grand Final.
Field umpire Mathew Nicholls who was the emergency field umpire in the 2012 grand final steps up this year. Mathew becomes the 61st grand final field umpire and the second most experienced ever (202 matches) to achieve a first grand final.
Michael Marrantelli becomes the 98th grand final boundary umpire to debut. Michael in only in his third year as an AFL boundary umpire (71 matches) comes off the back of winning Bill Sutton Medal as the best first or second year boundary umpire in 2012.

NSW/ACT boundary umpire Michael Saunders becomes the second Sydney-based umpire to make an AFL grand final. The first was goal umpire Mike Heinrichs in 1999.
Michael has umpired 101 games and will become the 99th boundary umpire to debut in an AFL grand final.
The last of the debutants is goal umpire Adam Wojcik. Adam, who umpired his 100th game in the Collingwood v Pt Adelaide elimination final, becomes the 112th grand final goal umpire. Adam was the emergency goal umpire in the 2012 grand final.
