As footy draws to a close in many states this weekend it will become the beginning for many umpires who are looking to get an AFL contract.
The 2013 VFL Grand Final sees current AFL rookie Shaun Gleeson achieve back to back VFL grand finals. He umpires the Box Hill v Geelong clash at Etihad stadium with ex AFL umpire Brett Ritchie, who is seeking a position back on the AFL panel and first time grand final umpire Robert O’Gorman who also reaches his 50 game milestone.
Boundary and goal umpires for the VFL grand final are Damien Cusack, Josh Mather, Tim Lougoon, Dylan Benwell and Michael Craig.
The 2013 TAC Cup Grand Final will include AFL rookie Andrew Talbot, VFL umpire of the year Michael Curtis and Rob Young. Boundary and goal umpires are Jordan Andrews, Jake Robertson, Nick Lawrence, Sam Walsh and Peter Balding.
The NEAFL grand final is being between the Brisbane Lions and the Sydney Swans. The match is being played in Brisbane. The umpires selected are field umpires AFL rookie Andrew Stephens, Ex AFL listed umpire, Jason Baldwin and Brent Pawley (NSW/ACT) AFL Rookie. The boundary umpires are Nick Heneker, Gareth Hughes and Dan Field-Read. The goal umpires are Rob Whitehead and Rose O’Dea
The WAFL grand final is being billed as the battle of Perth with east playing west. AFL rookies Scott McPhee and Justin Orr are joined by evergreen Stuart Parry in the field.
Michael Washington, ex AFL boundary umpire Adam Bastick and Jack McDonald are on the boundary with Kendall Ball and Brody Payne in the goals.
In the Tasmanian State League grand final, South Launceston will play Burnie. AFL Rookie Ben Lehner will do his fourth grand final in a row with Joel Harris and Matt Clarke. Boundary umpires are Paul Bidgood, Adam Readon, Dean Piccone and Josh Innes. In the goals are Mark Ensby and Craig Geeves.
