Congratulations to Nathan Doig who umpired his 400th AFL match in the West Coast vs St. Kilda match at Optus Oval on Sunday 18th May.
Nathan becomes only the fifth boundary umpire in VFL/AFL history to surpass the 400 mark and according to many people that have coached and umpired with him, his ability to adapt to changes in skills and ability means he is still performing at his best.
In umpiring his 400th match, it was the 100th time that Nathan had umpired alongside field umpire Jeff Dalgleish. He also umpired with Jeff’s brother Brett on the boundary on 206 occasions and fellow boundary umpires Josh Garrett 124, Sean Moylan 76 and Jordan Russell on 57 occasions.
Nathan umpired at Subiaco in 229 matches and at Optus Stadium on 123 occasions. He has umpired the most derbies with 33 and been appointed to umpire Fremantle 196 times and the Eagles 197. Total attendances for Nathan’s matches are over 15,775,000.
Nathan has umpired in five AFL grand finals and is a dual All-Australian, making him one of Western Australia’s most decorated umpires across any discipline.
Congratulations Nathan on your 400th AFL match.
