Former VFL umpire and VFLUA Life Member, Harold Hodgson passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 15, aged 86.

Harold grew up in Carlton and played football for Ivanhoe in the VAFA.  He also played cricket.

Harold began umpiring in 1956 in the VFL Second 18’s for three years until his promotion to the VFLUA where his career spanned 1959-1971 (off list 1965).  Harold was awarded Life membership in 1970.

Harold umpired 58 VFL matches 1960-64, Heritage number 231.  He also umpired 130 VCFL matches including 18 grand finals, 11 Tasmanian matches  with 3 grand finals and 1 Metropolitan match 

His funeral will be held at Fawlkner Cemetery this Sunday May 20 at 10.30am in the Cordell Chapel.
