AFLUA life member William (Bill) McLennan passed away peacefully on August 24, aged 84.

Bill commenced his umpiring career with the VFL Reserve grade in 1957 as a boundary umpire.  He switched to the field in 1960, remaining on the Reserve Grade until he was promoted to the VFL Senior panel in 1963.  Bill retired from the panel in 1972.

He umpired 152 VCFL games including 3 finals and 3 metropolitan matches.

Bill was awarded AFLUA life membership in 1973.  Bill was a regular attendee at our X umpires’ luncheons at Mornington.

Bill is survived by his wife, Lorraine, children and 15 grandchildren.
