The AFLUA recently visited Leigh Fisher’s new café – the Cornerstone and Co – a small licenced café located in the leafy back streets of Hampton, to catch up with Hayden Gavine, who will umpire his first AFL game on Sunday.

Leigh took over the business three months ago and has been too busy to give his past career, teaching, a second thought.  The contemporary, homely space is coated in white tiles and features slim wire chairs, recycled timber tables and wooden shelving. Talented chef Shoichi Ueda has coupled his Japanese heritage and time spent cooking in Italy to create a menu that is like no other.

If an afternoon drink, live music and some fine antipasto is your thing, the café will hold its first ‘Afternoon Delight’ this Sunday from 3-6pm.  The café will also launch its new wine list so get down before Chambo and Donno take up their regular positions by the window.

The café will also feature be holding a 6-course degustation dinner in July.
