While all of the AFL field umpires went back to pre-season training last Tuesday following their successful study tour to New York, Simon Meredith and Mat Nicholls have been sent on international duties as part of Saturday nights fixture in Western Australia.

Simon Meredith will referee the match with his Irish counterpart Marty Duffy.  Mat Nicholls and Joe McCullion will assist from the bench.  Simon went to Ireland with the Indigenous team last season as the deputy to Matt Stevic.  He will have learned a lot from his travel and will put that experience to good use tomorrow night.  Simon said today, “It’s been a good week to be involved in especially with the calibre of the players involved.”

Running the boundary in their first internationals will be grand final boundary umpire, Nathan Doig along with Jace Collingridge and Brett Dalgleish.

In the goals will be Brett Rogers, Dale Edwick, Matthew Laycock and Luke Edwards, all from WA.

We wish them well in what looks like to be a sell out crowd for the game.
