His disarming smile and blonde surfer looks belie the resilience and focus of the most promising first or second year field umpire, Nathan Williamson.  The award is based on the rankings from the AFL Umpiring Department.

Nathan, was first listed as an AFL rookie in 2015 from his home in Perth.  Following a very good year in 2016, where he umpired his second WAFL grand final, Nathan received his first AFL contract in 2017.

Nathan umpired 22 home and away games and finished in the top 16 field umpires for the season, sitting as an emergency in the Geelong v Richmond second qualifying final.

Congratulations Nathan.
